Therapeutic Exercise

The use of therapeutic exercise in conjunction with chiropractic treatment is a vital part of your recovery. Spinal manipulation is only one component of an overall treatment plan. Following the initial acute stage of your treatment, you will be guided through a series of spinal stabilization exercises. These exercises consist of simple flexion and extension movements which can be done at home to more complex movements such as core stabilization and balance movements. It may vary from highly selected activities restricted to specific muscles or parts of the body, to general and vigorous activities that can return a convalescing patient to the peak of physical condition. Regeneration of musculoskeletal pathways and proper firing of core muscle is vital to keeping your spine in good health and allow you to recover from you injury.

Therapeutic exercise seeks to accomplish the following goals:

– Improve circulation
– Promote relaxation of muscles
– Improve balance
– Increase flexibility
– Reduce rigidity
– Improve muscle strength and maintain maximal voluntary contractile force (MVC)
– Improve overall endurance
